2012 SYNOD ASSEMBLY
June 8-10, 2012

"Strengthening Leaders" will be the theme of the 2012 Northeastern Iowa Synod Assembly set for June 8-10 in Waverly, Iowa. The event will celebrate church leaders by offering support and encouragement to their witness.

The assembly will offer worship services, forums, seminars, speakers, plenary sessions, and ministry exhibits. Five synod members will share their leadership stories: Syd Brinkman, St. James, Allison; Elayne Werges, Diac. Min., Bethany, Iowa Falls, and St. Paul, Wellsburg; Norbert Strasser and Karen Anderson, Peace Lutheran Fellowship, Parkersburg; and Pastor Harold McMillin, St. John, Luana. Pastor Mary C. Frances, assistant director for Development of New Congregations for the ELCA Evangelical Outreach and Congregational Mission, will address the assembly as the churchwide representative.

Early bird registration is due Tuesday, May 8. After that date, an additional $25 fee will be added per person.

Living the Good Life: Connecting with Faith in the Real World

Join this multi-generational retreat for a "connecting" experience to understand how Christ is using all of us in ministry in our lives, in our homes and in the world.

The Rev. Dr. Norma Cook Everist of Wartburg Theological Seminary, Dubuque, Iowa, will use Martin Luther's Large Catechism in new and interesting ways to explore the basics of the Christian faith together as grownups or growing-ups. This retreat will offer age-appropriate experiences for adults, youth and children of all ages to learn about the relationship between faith and life, and the good life in Christ that God is creating, saving and making holy all around us.
