Celebrating Renewal: St. Elizabeth of Hungary — Service

The 2016 Synod Assembly will gather at Wartburg College, Waverly, June 10-12, for business surrounded by word and sacrament. with the theme, “Celebrating Renewal: St. Elizabeth of Hungary ­— Service.”  Assembly events begin Friday with communion service and end Sunday with communion service and lunch. Forums, seminars and ministry exhibits are set for Saturday.

Keynote
Dr. Susan Kosche Vallem, retired professor of Social Work, Wartburg College, will deliver the keynote address on the servant ministry of Saint Elizabeth.

Churchwide Representative

Molly Beck Dean, program director, ELCA Youth Gathering, will bring greetings and a report from the churchwide organization.

 

 


Elections & Resolutions

Voting members will elect synod council and committee members.

Business is presented in resolution form. Resolutions may be submitted to the Resolutions Committee by a voting member of a congregation in the Northeastern Iowa Synod, a congregation, or a conference.

Assembly participants may attend three sessions on Saturday, June 11. Unless otherwise noted, all sessions are offered at 10:45 a.m., 1:30 p.m. and 2:45 p.m.

Registration

 

Voting members must be voting members of their congregations.

 

Congregations are encouraged to elect a youth voting member.

 

Visitors, both adults and youth, are welcome and encouraged to attend.

 

Fee categories are non-commuter (meals, housing), commuter (meals, no housing), and visitor (no meals, no housing). Voting members have the opportunity to request the pre-assembly report as a printed or digital copy.
