History

Photos from Bishop Tamas Fabiny's visit to the Northeastern Iowa Synod

August 2011

The Northeastern Iowa Synod and the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Hungary began a companion synod relationship in 2011.

Through this relationship, synod members will have an opportunity to expand their horizons to learn, grow and pray with and for our brothers and sisters in Hungary.

The Rev. Dr. Tamas Fabiny, bishop of the Northern District of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hungary (ELCH), gave an introductory message broadcast during the 2011 Synod Assembly in June. In August, Fabiny and his wife visited the ELCA churchwide offices in Chicago and several sites in the Northeastern Iowa Synod.

Plans are for the relationship to utilize communications tools such as Skype to connect youth groups, build partnerships and exchange ideas.
