Buck-a-Chick

Chick photo istockphoto.com/alekcey

Congregations of the Northeastern Iowa Synod joined others across the nation by hosting a “Buck-a-Chick” sale. For one dollar, members could purchase and decorate a paper chick for themselves or in honor of a loved one. The dollars help World Hunger to provide a family in need with a check that will eventually produce eggs to eat and sell.

Members of Faith Lutheran, Shell Rock, sold enough of the Buck-a-Chick posters to line the church's entire fellowship hall and raise $154. At St. Paul, Garnavillo, the Sunday school  children wanted to see if they could raise more money than the congregation for "Buck of Chick" during the season of Lent. The Sunday school raised $265, and the congregation raised $237.50. During this time period, the people of St. Paul also brought boxed food for the food bank of Shepherd of the Hills.
