NORTHEASTERN IOWA SYNOD
Evangelical Lutheran Church In America
"Strengthening the Church"

Conference for Cooperative Ministry Grants

Rev. Nancy Larson
Assistant to the Bishop

Examples of cooperative ministries and how conference funds could be expended to finance:

STEWARDSHIP

Ventures
Conferences could sponsor this four-part workshop series that develops a foundation for stewardship education, planning and response in the congregation throughout the year.  In Ventures congregations will: build a foundation for stewardship education and response; train leaders to carry out a thorough financial response effort; equip leaders to develop and implement a year-round stewardship ministry; create enthusiasm and excitement for stewardship; and foster stronger faith relationships within and between congregations.  Normal program cost is $400 per congregation.  A partnership between the conference and the synod could reduce the cost to $250 per congregation.  For more information call Pr. Nancy Larson.

Stewardship Toolkit
In partnership with the synod a conference could sponsor a one day event with 10 skill-based workshops for pastors and lay stewardship leaders.  These workshops focus on the practical issues of stewardship programs and fund raising campaigns.  For more information call Pr. Nancy Larson.

Kids, Money & Stuff
This six-hour shared experience event is for children in third through eighth grade and their adults.  Led by an ELCA Salt Stewardship Specialist, this experience offers the flexibility of an overnight retreat setting or a one-day event on a Saturday or Sunday.  The suggested minimum group size is 20 participants and costs include professional leadership, travel costs and most participant resources.  This is an ideal opportunity for conference partnership with the synod.  For more information please call Pr. Nancy Larson.

AppleTree
This six-hour retreat is led by an ELCA Salt Stewardship Specialist.  Appletree offers a careful kind of A Vitality Process personal pruning for vitality and joy in life.  It is a pruning process for possibilities and fruitful living.  “For Busy People” the AppleTree event focuses on responsibilities, relationships, lifestyle, choices, faith, priorities and time for Sabbath rest.  The fee includes professional leadership, travel costs and most participant resources.  For more information call Pr. Nancy Larson.
