2011 Lutheran Youth Organization Assembly

March 5-6, 2011

Mason City, Iowa

Lutheran youth from the Northeastern Iowa Synod are invited to attend the 18th Annual LYO Assembly set for the weekend of March 5-6, 2011, at the Clarion Inn in Mason City.

The theme "Living Into the Future Together" will be addressed in three sessions led by Erik Ullestad. Erik is author of the blog "koinonia," director of Youth & Family Ministries at Windsor Heights Lutheran Church in Des Moines, and a member of the ELCA's Living Into the Future Together (LIFT) Task Force. Youth will have a chance to learn about, dream about, and communicate to church leadership about the church of the future.

The event will also feature fellowship, activities, worship, devotions, music, food and fun, including an improvisational comedy troupe from Riverside Bible Camp. Worship will be led by Pastor Dan Gerrietts and Pastor Darrel Gerrietts.

Registration Information:
Each congregation must pre-register by submitting fee payment and the Congregational Registration Form .

The $60 registration fee per person includes all meals and program.

Hotel Reservation:
Each congregation can make its own housing reservations only through Mellisa Leach at the Clarion Inn by calling 641-423-1640, ext. 330. Standard rooms are available for $72+ taxes per night (more for poolside rooms).

LYO Assembly Menu:
Lunch:
“The Company Picnic” -- grilled chicken breast, hamburgers and bratwursts; potato salad; cole slaw; potato chips; baked beans; mini corn; coffee and lemonade.

Supper
“Taco Bar” -- ground beef; refried beans; tomato; shredded cheese; sour cream; salsa; black olives; lettuce; tortilla shells and chips; and nacho cheese; iced tea

Brunch
“Sunrise Morning” -- country skillet eggs strata; smokehouse bacon and sausage; flaky country biscuits and gravy; breakfast potatoes; fresh seasonal fruit; breakfast breads; muffins; pastries; milk; bottled juices; and coffee.
