What is LYO?

What Is the LYO's mission?
The Lutheran Youth Organization mission statement is "God through and in Christ, has called us to be God's people, empowered by the Holy Spirit, and sent to bear witness to God's creative, redeeming and sanctifying work in our lives."

 What does the LYO do?
(exerts from the constitution)

1) Be the primary liaison for youth with the expressions of the ELCA

2)  Call business meetings of the LYO and the Annual Gathering

3)  Advocate for inclusive youth ministry

4)  Research and develop resources for youth ministry

5)  Assist congregations and conferences in visioning and needs assessment

6)  Coordinate a calendar of youth events held throughout the synod

7)   Oversee a synodical Youth Ministry newsletter
