Middle School Lock-In

Oct. 12-13, 2018
UNI Wellness Center, Cedar Falls, Iowa

Mark Oct. 12-13, 2018, for the annual lock-in for middle school and junior high youth. The event is sponsored through the partnership of the Lutheran Student Center at the University of Northern Iowa. UNI students will help staff the event.

This year’s theme will focus on ELCA World Hunger’s Global Farm Challenge. The challenge is a year-long, youth-driven fundraising challenge to support the agriculture-related programs of ELCA World Hunger, our church’s ministry to end hunger and poverty. The Lock-in will offer an interactive course about the ELCA Global Farm Challenge led by a representative from the ELCA.

Other planned activities include an opening prayer, worship, and large group activity. Students can join in a variety of free time fun and games at the wellness center, including swimming, volleyball, basketball, racket ball, climbing wall, pin pong, and inflatables. Snacks and beverages will be provided, as well as a pizza meal and breakfast.

Cost for the event is $40 per student if registered by Friday, Sept. 28, 2018. An additional $10 fee is added for late registration.

ELCA Youth Gathering 2018

Some 600 youth and adults from the Northeastern Iowa Synod joined more than 30,000 others for the 2018 ELCA Youth Gathering at Houston in June. They came together for five days of faith formation, worship, interactive learning, Bible study, community service projects, and fellowship. During this time the young people grow in faith and are challenged and inspired to live their faith in their daily lives.
